The Kagal Education Society (KES) is one of the renowned educational institution in the Western Maharashtra. It was established by the teacher and educationist Honorable Shri. Y.D. Mane in 1960. The KES started its activities with the establishment of Devchand Shaha Chatralaya, the home for downtrodden. Considering the need of time the KES felt its prime duty and responsibility to provide the education for the individual and societal development in tune with its goal ‘service to man is a true religion’. It resulted into establishment of institution catering to the educational need from KG to PG of the students in and around the Kagal. Today the KES has in total 23 branches catering to the needs of Education.
D. R. Mane Mahavidyalya Kagal was established in 1984 with the objective of catering to the needs of higher education of rural and first generation learners in the surrounding villages. College is named after Honorable Shri. Dinkar Ramchandra Mane, writer, thinker, social reformer, a staunch activist and a remarkable Satyashodak. (a man in search of truth , an activist of the movement started by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule).
With just 49 students as the source, the college was opened in June 1984 only with the faculty of commerce. Today the college is working at Junior level, Arts commerce and science at senior level , BCA under commerce faculty and M.Com at PG level with 3850 students enrolled in all the faculty. We are proud to say that college is catering the needs of higher education of 37 villages around the college.
The college is re-accredited by the NAAC and was awarded with ‘B’ grade with CGPA of 2.61. The college has proved to be a center of the higher education and has been instrumental in spreading culture of higher education in and around the Kagal. It is observed that over the years the percentage of girls’ student in total admissions is increasing. Presently around 70% students are girl students. It is welcoming fact in the era of women empowerment. The KES is also thinking for starting new skill oriented courses to help women empowerment. With the changing perspectives due to globalization and privatization of higher education, the KES is ready to accept the new challenges with new vigor.
