Brief Description
The Department of Botany is established in June 2016. The department has well equipped laboratories for UG.
Objective
- To motivate the students love towards nature.
- To create scientific temper among the students.
- To preserve and conserve the Biodiversity.
- To create awareness about the environmental problems.
- To study the indigenous flora.
- To promote use of eco friendly fertilizers and pesticides.
- To enhance the importance of gardens and parks.
Course Outcome
Program Outcome
After completing graduation in B.Sc. with Botany the student will be able to experience and exhibit –
- The knowledge with facts and figures related to various pure sciences such as Chemistry, Physic, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science.
- The knowledge of the basic concepts, fundamental principles and the scientific theories related to various phenomena and their relevance to the day to day life.
- The skills of analyzing the given scientific data logically, critically and drawing the objective conclusion.
- Capability to think creatively, divergently and convergently to propose novel ideas in the providing new solutions to the problems.
- Scientific outlook not only with respect to science subjects but also in all aspects of real life.
- How interdisciplinary approach helps in providing better solutions for the sustainable development.
- How imbibed ethical, moral and social values in personal and social life leads to highly cultured and civilized personality.
- How pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong activity which in combination with continued efforts and positive attitude leads towards a successful life.
Program Specific Outcome
After completing graduation in B.Sc. with Botany the student will be able to experience and exhibit –
- Understand the basic concepts and morphology of lower group and higher group plants.
- Understand the evolution, classification, anatomical details of plants.
- Analyze the cellular details and application of genetics, molecular biology in plant breeding.
- Identify the bacteria, viruses and plant pathogen.
- Analyze metabolic activities of plants.
- Understand the application of genetic engineering for the improvements of plants.
- Understand the basic concepts of ecology.
- Perform the laboratory techniques in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, ecology and utilization of plants.
