Chemistry

Brief Description

The Department of Chemistry is established in June 2016. The department has three well equipped laboratories for UG.

Objective

  • To create awareness amongst the students in pursuing careers in the area of Chemistry at National & International levels.
  • To motivate the students for doing research work on new technologies & methods for chemical synthesis & their wide applications.
  • To develop the social awareness which is useful to motivate & inspire the students to gain Knowledge of chemistry.
  • To provide opportunities to young UG graduates to reach his/her highest personnel and job profiles competence.

Course Outcome

  • Understand the fundamental principles, laws, concepts and formulas of Chemistry.
  • Develop problem-solving skills of students.
  • Gain practical experience by hands-on experience with instruments and develop laboratory skills.
  • Learn about advanced Chemistry and its applications for higher studies.
  • Learn to apply conceptual knowledge to practical work.
  • Learn to interpret chemical and physical phenomena through experimental evidence.
  • Learn to analyze and interpret data accurately through scientific reasoning and experimental hypothesis testing.

Program Outcome

The Student of B.Sc. at the time of graduation will be able to experience and reveal –

  • The knowledge with facts and figures related to various pure sciences such as Chemistry, Physic, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science.
  • The knowledge of the basic concepts, fundamental principles and the scientific theories related to various phenomena and their relevance to the day to day life.
  • The skills of analyzing the given scientific data logically, critically and drawing the objective conclusion.
  • Capability to think creatively, divergently and convergently to propose novel ideas in the providing new solutions to the problems.
  • Scientific outlook not only with respect to science subjects but also in all aspects of real life.
  • How interdisciplinary approach helps in providing better solutions for the sustainable development.
  • How imbibed ethical, moral and social values in personal and social life leads to highly cultured and civilized personality.
  • How pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong activity which in combination with continued efforts and positive attitude leads towards a successful life.

Program Specific Outcome

After completing graduation in B.Sc. with Chemistry the student will be able to experience and exhibit –

  1. Employ critical thinking and efficient problem solving skills in the four basic areas of chemistry (physical organic, inorganic, analytical).
  2. Work effectively in various fields like pharmaceutical as well as industrial areas.
  3. Understand major concepts, theoretical principles and experimental findings in chemistry.
  4. Name different organometallic compounds.
  5. Explain the concepts of spectroscopy.
  6. Recognize biological reaction.
  7. Write mechanism of different condensation reaction.
  8. Differentiate between given different amines.
  9. Use concept of polarizibility.
  10. Predict the geometry of coordination compounds and types of hybridization.

Highlights

Curricular Aspects
