Computer Science

Brief Description

The Department of Computer Science is established in June 2016. The department has three well equipped Computer laboratories for UG.

Computer Science is the study of computers, computing technologies, and the principles behind software and hardware systems. It involves understanding how computers work, how they can be programmed, and how to use them to solve problems efficiently.

Key areas of computer science include:

  • Programming – Writing instructions for computers using languages like Python, Java, or C++.

  • Algorithms and Data Structures – Creating efficient ways to process and store information.

  • Computer Systems and Architecture – Understanding how hardware and software interact.

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Making computers think and learn.

  • Cybersecurity – Protecting information and systems from digital threats.

  • Databases – Organizing and managing large sets of data.

  • Software Engineering – Designing and developing complex applications.

Objective

  1. Effectively communicating computing concepts and solutions to bridge the gap between computing industry to create and initiate innovation.
  2. Effectively utilizing the knowledge of computing principles and mathematical theory to develop sustainable solutions to current and future computing problems.
  3. Exhibiting computing expertise within the computing community through corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, and/or advanced graduate study. 
  4. Developing and implementing solution based systems that address issues and/or improve existing systems within a computing based industry.

Course Outcome

  • Demonstrate a familiarity of computer programming language concepts.
  • Understand to develop C programs on Linux platform.
  • Use basics of C language syntax as identifiers, keywords, variables, data types and operators
  • Apply the concept of branching, looping, decision-making statements and Array for problem solving.
  • Describe the basic concepts of DBMS and various databases used in real applications.
  • Demonstrate the principles behind systematic database design approaches.
  • Describe the fundamental elements of Relational Database Management Systems.
  • Use various commands in data languages with example.
  • Understand basic structure if C Programming, declaration and usage of variables, use of data type and operators.
  • Implement control structures and array to develop a C program.
  • Design database for business applications.
  • Use various commands in data languages on databases.
  • Use internet and internet tools.
  • Perform various activities based on internet.
  • Learn HTML tags and programming concepts and techniques.
  • Analyze a web page and identify its elements and attributes.

Program Outcome

The Student of B.Sc. at the time of graduation will be able to experience and reveal –

  • The knowledge with facts and figures related to various pure sciences such as Chemistry, Physic, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science.
  • The knowledge of the basic concepts, fundamental principles and the scientific theories related to various phenomena and their relevance to the day to day life.
  • The skills of analyzing the given scientific data logically, critically and drawing the objective conclusion.
  • Capability to think creatively, divergently and convergently to propose novel ideas in the providing new solutions to the problems.
  • Scientific outlook not only with respect to science subjects but also in all aspects of real life.
  • How interdisciplinary approach helps in providing better solutions for the sustainable development.
  • How imbibed ethical, moral and social values in personal and social life leads to highly cultured and civilized personality.
  • How pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong activity which in combination with continued efforts and positive attitude leads towards a successful life.

Program Specific Outcome

After completing graduation in B.Sc. with Computer Science the student will be able to experience and exhibit –

  • Communicate in written and oral forms. Work critically and creatively, both independently and with team.
  • To apply mathematical, statistical, accounting and computing theoretical concepts in solution of common computing applications.
  • To complete successfully be able to program small-to-mid-size programs and applications on their own.
  • To use appropriately system design notations and apply system design engineering process in order to design, plan, and implement software systems.
  • To develop and implement small windows/ web applications.
  • To effectively manage project work according to time scheduling, cost scheduling and also satisfy customer needs.
  • In a self-selected area of depth in Computing, students will demonstrate a depth of knowledge appropriate to graduate study and/or lifelong learning in that area.
  • Prepared for a career in an information technology oriented business or industry, or for post graduate study in computer science or other scientific or technical fields.
